UPS is Promising Postal
Things are kicking up a notch with UPS becoming USPS's primary air cargo
provider. The 5.5-year contract started April 1st, with full implementation
on September 29. To start this new endeavor, UPS has hired an additional
170 pilots.
UPS recently donated over 100 Easter
baskets to two organizations, the
Volunteers of America Emergency
Women and Children's Shelter and the
Home of the Innocents. This generous
contribution aimed to provide essential
items to children of various ages,
including young children, teenagers,
and medically fragile children. The
initiative received widespread
appreciation, with gratitude extended
to all donors and supporters for their
contributions to assist underserved
communities.
Why it's a big deal: With this new deal, most of USPS's air cargo within
the U.S. will be handled by UPS. This means we get to show off what
our UPS network can really do, from start to finish.
As we gear up for the official QAP Audit in May 2024, it's crucial to reflect
on the recent blitz QAP Audit conducted at Worldport. This audit, held last
month, has provided valuable insights, particularly on two common
findings of 2024 that are listed below with ways to correct them.
Understanding these findings and the strategies to prevent them will
significantly contribute to our success in the upcoming official QAP Audit.
1. Improper loading of Dangerous Goods (DG)
Perform six-side checks
Block and brace
Utilize available job aides
2. Fire extinguisher serviceability on ramp equipment
Inspect equipment-mounted fire extinguishers for all applicable
compliance factors during the equipment pre-trip
Reviewing these common audit findings along with the strategies in place
to avoid them can help you and your area perform your best during the
official QAP Audit. The Career
Takeoff Center
You may have noticed the new signs on the
training building near the Main Guard Shack. This
facility is now called the "Career Takeoff Center"
or "CTC" and is where new employees meet their
trainers before being guided onto the property
after registration.
